"In the cold and darkness of winter it is all about rich colours, comfy furnishings and soft textures to snuggle up in."

With the Christmas season over, it is a great time of year to give your rooms a refresh.

Embrace the opportunity to create a place of sanctuary and warmth, so you can enjoy the second half of winter in style and comfort.

How can I make my home feel cosy and stylish this winter?

Animal faux fur throws, cushions and beanbags are continuing to be very much in the spotlight this year. You can now find a fantastic range of top quality faux furs in realistic and natural multi-tones; they are sure to bring a warm and cosy feeling to your home this winter, giving that crucial ‘feel-good’ factor at, what can be, a flat time of year.

When considering a fur throw, think about your space and where you need to add texture. Examine the tone of your throw, and opt for colours that will work harmoniously with your interior scheme. If you’re looking for lightcoloured faux fur, creamy hues will always look more natural than stark white.

There is a huge selection of faux fur available so it’s worthwhile investing the time to look for quality. You may think you have bagged a bargain on the internet, but cheaper versions can look unrealistic, feel uncomfortable and malt.

Natural materials such as wool and sheepskin are essential for keeping your home cosy during the colder months. Genuine sheepskin is fantastic in both comfort and function, and looks exquisitely luxurious in any room. A bedroom setting looks gorgeous and so appealing adorned with a sheepskin and wool cushions on the bed.

Using candles and incense is a great way to make our homes more inviting, what scent can you recommend for winter?

Scented candles and diffusers have the ability to sooth or invigorate the senses, so selecting the right fragrance for you and your home is essential to creating a positive and uplifting environment. Calming scents in the bedroom or living area can transform the space into a tranquil and restful haven.

During winter we love a scent that blends winter berries, vanilla and evergreens, warmed with sweet notes of frankincense, clove and citrus to give a perfectly subtle and warming aroma.

How can we create a welcoming atmosphere at home this winter?

In the winter months, our homes become our nest, protecting us from the elements; somewhere we want to feel snug. In the cold and darkness of winter it is all about rich colours, comfy furnishings and soft textures to snuggle up in.

Choose luxurious velvets and super soft wools for upholstery to enhance your winter home. Velvet looks stunning in sumptuous colours such as rich teals, forest greens and burnt oranges. Consider an armchair or footstool upholstered with darker tones of wool to bring a sophisticated style to your room.
