On Friday 21 November, Caswell House hosted a glittering Venetian Masquerade Ball in aid of Breakthrough Breast Cancer and The Cancer Vaccine Institute, raising an incredible £20,560.

Caswell House is an exclusive wedding venue set in the heart of the Oxfordshire countryside featuring stunning medieval barns,

and it was the perfect setting for such a special night.

Breakthrough Breast Cancer and The Cancer Vaccine Institute were the charities chosen by Claire and Pete Grant, who are currently experiencing their own difficulties with this terrible disease.

Guests arrived to the ball wearing a wonderful variety of masks, some of which made quite an impression! They were treated to a flowing champagne reception held in Bartletts Barn, before moving through to Wenmans Barn to enjoy the evening’s entertainment.

The Welcome Speech was given by Peter Grant. His incredibly moving address touched the hearts of the guests, and reminded everyone of the worthwhile causes they were donating to.

A sumptuous three course dinner was kindly provided by Caswell House Indulgence with wine carefully selected by the Oxford Wine Company.

The Master of Ceremony, David Kurk, kept everyone laughing and entertained throughout the whole evening. He also hosted the raffle and auction which included some breathtaking prizes. One of the highlights of the evening was the reaction of the guests watching several tables battle it out to be the highest bidders on three incredible holidays in Ibiza, in Es Vive Hotel and Chic Ibiza Villas.

The energetic live band, The Standard, kept everyone dancing until the early hours of Saturday morning, and nobody seemed ready for the night to end.

Stephen Anidjah from The Cancer Vaccine Institute stated “£20,560 was an amazing amount to raise and I was absolutely delighted to be a part of it and help with the event. Congratulations to the whole team involved in making it so enjoyable and successful.”

Katie Robertson from Breakthrough Breast Cancer added “To raise that amount is absolutely fantastic, well done to the whole team who worked so hard and did an incredible job.”

Kate Cross of Caswell House also added “We were honoured to host the event. The generosity of the guests was outstanding, with £20,560 raised in aid of two very worthwhile Cancer charities. We would like to thank those who donated their time and services to help make the event such a success.”

Breakthrough Breast Cancer

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK. One in eight women will face it. Every month 1,000 women will lose their lives to breast cancer – and more women are being diagnosed every day. Breakthrough Breast Cancer’s research is focused entirely on breast cancer, discovering how to prevent breast cancer, how to detect breast cancer earlier and how to treat breast cancer more effectively.

The Cancer Vaccine Institute

The Cancer Vaccine Institute (CVI) funds research into the use of vaccines for the treatment of cancer. Our vision is that cancer vaccines will become a standard treatment and improve survival rates and patients’ quality of life for a wide range of cancers.
