Oxfordshire’s Most Successful College

Recent national success rate data has revealed that Abingdon and Witney College’s timely apprenticeship success rate for 16-18 year olds is the highest in the country, with the College placed 1st out of 218 colleges

Apprenticeships, vocational courses, higher education courses such as degrees, foundation degrees and HNCs plus professional qualifications such as AAT, ILM and CIPD

Abingdon and Witney College is also, for the second year running, in the top 10% of colleges nationally and the most successful college in Oxfordshire

This is an impressive achievement for the College and shows the dedication of the staff and employers who work with the College to deliver apprenticeships and vocational qualifications across Oxfordshire.

Teresa Kelly, Principal said, “We are very proud to be confirmed, again, as the most successful college in Oxfordshire. Maintaining our position in the top 10% of colleges in the country is another exciting achievement for the college and demonstrates why we are the first choice for so many young people and adults in Oxfordshire.”

Our end of year celebration has taken place at Blenheim Palace for the last three years. It is a fitting end to the year and a marvellous venue in which to celebrate the success of our students

Abingdon and Witney College is also launching three exciting new apprenticeships that will be available from September this year. Apprenticeships in hairdressing, construction and social media for business will now be on offer due to the high demand for these particular career paths. The new construction apprenticeship comes just in time for the students to take full advantage of the brand new construction building at the College’s Witney campus.

The new building is part of the college’s £23m refurbishments which also include a new engineering centre at their Abingdon campus and a new teaching facility at their Witney campus.

At this time of year many students will be receiving their GCSE and A Level results. This can be a confusing and overwhelming time for many and they often feel that it is too late to apply to college. Actually this is not the case often students contact the college within the first few weeks of the new term, unsure of the choices they have made. Staff are available to discuss options and talk to members of the public with advice and information about the courses available.

The College offers apprenticeships, vocational courses, higher education courses such as degrees, foundation degrees and HNCs plus professional qualifications such as AAT, ILM and CIPD, so there is something for everyone no matter where they are at in their education. The next Open Days are on Saturday 5th September 10.00 – 12.30 and Wednesday 9th September 3.30 – 7.00pm at both our Abingdon and Witney campuses. Celebrating Excellence

Our students are highly successful and go on to do some extraordinary things! We are extremely proud of all our students, for the challenges they overcome whilst studying with us and the ambitions they continue to pursue when they leave.

Many of our students progress onto traditional avenues such as apprenticeships, university and employment, with some exploring some more unusual progression routes. In this year’s leavers there are a variety of exciting success stories. Dan Grisman is a Level 3 Public Services student who has recently passed the aptitude test to commission into the RAF as an Intelligence officer. Max Hilleard, a Level 3 Sports student, has secured a place on a volunteering scheme in Africa and Tom Legge, a Level 3 Media student, is going onto study at the Backstage Academy in Wakefield after working on the production of Reading Festival.

These students only show a small amount of the College’s success stories with so many other exciting and wonderful achievements happening every year. To find out more about our students and their accomplishments visit abingdon-witney.ac.uk
