"If you’re feeling punchy wear head-to-toe yellow tailoring like Victoria Beckham, or for a gentle introduction to the look opt for cheery, lemon accessories."

Ellie Stidolph has helped dress everyone from Ella Eyre to the One Direction boys, so knows what she is talking about – here she breaks down the most wearable trends to consider, all available from centre:mk right now!

The dress: 90s slinky slips

Slinky lingerie-inspired slip dresses are one of the biggest trends of the season, and have been spotted on everyone from Rihanna to Selena Gomez.

To make the look more approachable, style like the street style stars and layer satin slips over slim-fitting white tees, and finish off the look with a pair of white trainers.

The key print: gingham

This check print has had a revival this summer, as you’ll know if you have seen Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik’s gingham-tastic shoot for American Vogue. Everyone from Victoria Beckham to Miu Miu, showed these picnic-cloth prints for SS16, and so it isn’t surprising that gingham has taken over the high street.

For those feeling brave, double up layered gingham separates. For a more classic look, opt for a sundress like this Warehouse off-the-shoulder dress available at centre:mk which will take you from desk to dinner. As for the boys, of course a preppy gingham shirt is still always a classic, and stylish option.

The detail: ruffles

Ruffles are everywhere this summer, whether on romantic, tiered chiffon dresses or shirts finished with Victorian-inspired cuffs and high-neck collars (a best-seller from Alexa Chung’s collection for M&S, available at centre:mk). For a subtle nod to the trend, look for blouses with ruffled trims.

The colour: yellow

Yellow might traditionally be a divisive hue, but this season it has been a stand out, surprisingly wearable, colour. Everyone from Beyonce to Kirsten Dunst has turned to this sunny shade, proving that it is a lot more versatile than you may think.

If you’re feeling punchy wear head-to-toe yellow tailoring like Victoria Beckham, or for a gentle introduction to the look opt for cheery, lemon accessories.

The skirt: tight pleats

Another summer success story is the pleated midi skirt, which will be a breezy office-saviour through July and August. We can’t think of many stars that haven’t worn this silhouette, as Gucci’s foil-print skirts have been just as popular as its horsebit loafers.

Everyone from Whistles to Warehouse are offering these swishy midis, with a wide selection available at centre:mk.

The decade: still all about the 70s

The 70s have had a revival for the past few seasons, seeing the return of everything from flares to paisley prints. For menswear a key piece worth investing in is a buttery suede jacket, which will see you through to winter.

Over in the women’s department at the Centre, there are also a number of suede styles worth considering from Warehouse, Whistles and more. The only tricky thing here is deciding on just one.
