The Maytime Inn

Dominic and Alfie (the dog) welcome you to The Maytime and the beautiful Cotswold village of Asthall
Proudly continues its long tradition of hospitality, albeit with fewer horses and the most stylish of modern conveniences

The village of Asthall is wreathed in rural charm and features the beautiful and ancient church of St Nicholas’ (1160) set next to the elegant Manor house, the original home of the famous Mitford sisters, which also regularly hosts popular public events.

The river Windrush meanders gently through the beautiful Oxfordshire countryside just a stone’s throw from The Maytime Inn, which dates back to the 17th Century and in times gone by was a coaching inn with its own Smithy. Today The Maytime proudly continues its long tradition of hospitality, albeit with fewer horses and the most stylish of modern conveniences.

That Maytime is located just off the A40, making it great for either a nice overnight stay or a romantic weekend away. The village of Asthall features on many walking routes and what better place than The Maytime to stop, rest and refresh yourself. Your dog may also appreciate a drink! The Maytime fiercely defends its independence and offers an ever-changing range of local ales, ciders as well as large selection of wines which can be bought either by the glass or the bottle.

Refurbished in 2012, The Maytime is a freehouse with six beautifully appointed bedrooms with luxurious fittings and an elegantly rustic restaurant. The rooms each have a theme and you can choose from various country motifs. The Hunting Room is the largest and boasts a super king bed and a luxurious bathroom. Other rooms include the Saddlers, Tack, Farriers, Boot and Yard and Groom rooms, all of which carry the country theme throughout. Wifi is complimentary throughout the hotel and the beds are all lined with 400 thread Egyptian cotton bed linen.

And after a comfortable night in the carefully chosen beds, you can enjoy either a full cooked English breakfast or cereals, pastries, breads and everything else you could want for the perfect breakfast.

The whole hotel is designed to make your visit enjoyable, from the luxurious beds to the contemporary yet rustic bar and restaurant areas. The team of local staff is on hand to ensure that your stay is a pleasant and enjoyable experience.

There are various menus and dining options available. If you are just calling in on a nice winter walk or you just want something light, then the sandwich menu can offer anything from a rare roast beef feast to a chargrilled halloumi treat.  There is also a classic pub menu with everything you would expect and for something a bit more special, you could try the a la carte menu or maybe pop in for a Sunday roast.  Whether you choose from the traditional ‘Pub Classics’, the A la Carte or the Sandwich menus, the Maytime’s award-winning head chef will ensure you’re not disappointed, be it for a candle-lit dinner, a special family occasion or a lunchtime snack.
