The Only Auctioneers in Oxford

Established in 1788 by Thomas Mallam, Mallams Auctioneers has been a fixture of Oxford for over 225 years

A worldwide audience...

Originally based on the High Street and now in a saleroom on St. Michael’s Street (that even contains a portion of the original city wall),

Mallams continues its history of achieving great prices at auction combined with a friendly and professional free valuation service.

Over 15 specialist auctions take place in Oxford each year, ranging from Jewellery & Silver auctions to 20th Century Design auctions and the signature Gentleman’s Library Sale that emulates a traditional Oxford professor’s library.

Over the past couple of years some extraordinary rare finds have come to light through the Mallams auctioneers expertise, including a Chinese jade horse that a local lady brought to one of the free valuation mornings, part of her late husbands collection this jade horse went on to make £170,000.

Other discoveries that have been sold at Mallams over the past year include a collection of Indian miniature paintings that went on to sell for £60,000, an original Russell Flint watercolour that made £80,000 and an early altar frontal depicting Cardinal John Morton that went on to make £40,000.

Through the power of the internet, all auctions at Mallams reach a worldwide audience with collectors and bidders vying for items in every corner of the world. Beautifully photographed and catalogued, the lots are also presented in a full colour printed catalogue, ensuring items get the best possible exposure.

With branches in Abingdon and Cheltenham, along with a valuation office in Burford, Mallams offer insurance and probate valuations at a competitive rate and can put to auction anything from furniture to Flash Gordon costumes!
