Classic Romance

Notley Abbey

“As you enter the grounds, you drive along the beautiful tree lined driveway and are then presented with the stunning medieval honey coloured stone building.”

The aim of this shoot was to show the beautiful and historic Notley Abbey in a real venue style set up. I wanted to portray a romantic, classic and elegant style with a natural touch. I chose Notley Abbey for the venue as it is a quintessentially English, exclusive use wedding venue with an abundance of charm. As you enter the grounds, you drive along the beautiful tree lined driveway and are then presented with the stunning medieval honey coloured stone building that oozes charm and sophistication

Joanna created a beautiful tablescape inside the historic Monks Refectory using soft blue and navy cloths and candles teamed with vintage gold and glass tableware for a soft and elegant feel. Lynda provided us with a stationery suite using a colour palette of white, natural and powder blue with delicate florals, wispy calligraphy, and all hand finished with navy thread and gold wax seals, complementing the classic romance of the shoot. Cool blue menus and clear acrylic name cards were designed for each table setting to complement the contemporary cake design. Sorcha created beautiful table centrepieces using silvery foliage such as mimosa, senecio and eucalyptus leaves mixed with ornithogalum, vandela, Roses, porcelina spray roses and delicate flowering oregano. Two beautiful large displays, framing the doors to the garden also included forest green soft ruscus, white delphiniums, campanula and hydrangeas to add a little more drama.

Charlene created the most amazing four tier wedding cake. To reflect the delicate nature of the overall styling she used delicate hand painted florals and hand crafted, bronzed wafer paper hydrangea flowers. A clear acrylic tier added a touch of modernity to the design with handmade hanging sugar jewels to add detail and interest to the overall piece.

Flat lays were created on grey stone using stationery and jewellery teamed with delicate blue velvet ribbon and trinket pots.

The bride was dressed in a luxuriously elegant gown provided by Rachel and made by Essense of Australia using tulle and lace appliques. The gown was soft and flowing and very in keeping with the romantic and elegant theme of the shoot. The groom provided his own navy-blue suit and it was teamed with a beautiful navy and white liberty print tie provided by Alex.

Lucy created a hairstyle that was soft in texture, leaving loose curls to frame the face. She chose delicate and natural makeup to complement the bride’s English rose features.

Rachel provided the most delicate and beautiful adornments. Her ‘Maribel’ comb provided elegance to the beautiful up do created by Lucy and her timeless pearl and gold ‘Simone’ earrings set the look off beautifully.

The bouquet was a beautiful and bountiful mix of flowers similar to those used for the tablescape but also included pops of blue viburnum berries and echinops to tie in with the theme.
