The third Henley House & Garden Show is taking place in historic Henley’s town centre over the weekend of 2nd & 3rd March. This is a chance to see high-end, local interior and garden products and services all under one roof (OK, three roofs, but they’re close!), free of charge.
As the winter comes to an end, we like to focus on changes to be made to the house and garden and the Henley House & Garden Show is a great opportunity to talk to experts (architects, garden and interior designers, sustainability professionals, conveyancing) and for inspiration (textiles, candles, art, outdoor furniture, hot tubs, sculptures).
Local shows are a wonderful day out for the family and entertainment for the children is key while adults talk house (& garden). Lego Master Builders will be on site to help kids become the architects of the future. There will also be a range of demonstrations throughout both days for people to watch designers and makers at work. Chefs will also be cooking at the kitchen and there will be nibbles to try and gin samples to drink, thanks to Henley’s very own Mr Hobbs Gin.
The show’s theme centres around conservation and new for 2019, is the conservation area based at the King’s Arms Barn off the market square. Here, traditional skills and specialist suppliers will be on hand to answer questions about listed building and conservation methods.
The theme also includes the garden and the conservation of its insects. Butterflies and bees will play a role in the run up to, and throughout, the show as local children are invited to participate in a buzzy arts and poetry competition.
The speaker theatre will have a one-hour talk on each day – a panel discussion of industry specialists on the Saturday and a master class in recycling furniture on the Sunday. The masterclass will feature Jonty Hearnden from Cash in the Attic, Jay Blades from BBC2’s Repair Shop and Lynne Lambourne, our resident eco-warrior. All funds raised for these tickets will go to our chosen charity, The Chiltern Centre for Disabled Children.
A lunch prior to the show will also raise funds for the Chiltern Centre. This lunch will be held at the show sponsor’s Phyllis Court Club, on Wednesday 6th February. The show will be launched here with an interiors talk by the show director Niki Schafer, a professional, local interior designer. Tickets for this lunch are available online.
