Harki Bhambra is best known for roles in Our Girl, Call the Midwife and most recently as Dr Hasan in ITV's much-loved The Good Karma Hospital but he took a slightly different route into acting than most. Having started work as a chartered quantity surveyor following a degree in Manchester, Harki decided that he would give his dream career a go and went to theatre school in London at the age of 27. Since then, Harki has been thrilled to feature in a range of critically acclaimed television programmes including Doctor Who and Two Doors Down as well as starring in Nick Cohen’s film London Unplugged.

Something bad happening to me friends and family. That and thinking about the 2006 Champions League final – oh, and Bukayo Saka’s penalty. Kills me.
Happy
Ah, things like having a laugh with me mates. Playing footy. Having a brew and a biscuit. And whenever I get a chance to act, it’ll always feel special.
Fearful
Getting caught short when you need a pee or a poo.
Reflective
Tower cranes. I used to work in construction so whenever I see a crane it makes me think of those years.
Confident
Listening to me favourite music. Stuff that puts you in a bit of a solid mindset to remind yourself - life’s alright – come on lad.
Angry
I’m not a very angry person but I suppose bad tube etiquette is a bit irritating. Oh and entitlement.
Proud
I think I’m particularly proud of the friends I have in my life. They’ve always been there to celebrate the good times as well as be there at some really tricky times.
Unique
Me I suppose. I always think you should be proud of your own uniqueness, as no one can do you as well as you can; especially in the acting game
