CHRIST CHURCH 2021 JRM with Rec Brewer St Website mrgqps

Christ Church Cathedral School is a place of aspiration. Our school is rightly known for its friendliness and pastoral care but much of our pupils’ manifest happiness is predicated upon the fact that they see themselves succeeding in all walks of life, most especially academically.

The journey starts in Nursery, which is housed in the unrivalled surroundings of the 15th Century building in which Cardinal Wolsey, Henry VIII’s chief advisor, designed the greatest of Oxford Colleges, Christ Church. The Nursery has a charming garden facing the glorious Tudor frontage of the College. The rooms are of an intimate size which means that the pupils always feel calm and at home and our Montessori inspired programme ensures that early learning is enjoyable and that life skills are learned quickly. From there, boys move on to our Pre-Prep which is situated in light colourful classrooms where our warm and dynamic teachers ensure that learning is rigorous but engaging. We also have access to the most beautiful playing fields in England, Merton Field, and close by we have created an enchanting woodland classroom where birds and animals are being encouraged through nest boxes and homes.

The School was founded in 1546 to provide Choristers for Christ Church Cathedral, something we still do to this day. Christ Church Cathedral Choir, is internationally renowned and is one of the finest choirs in the world.  We are also very proud to provide Choristers for two additional Oxford colleges, Worcester and Pembroke. There is no other school in the country which hosts three College Choirs. We enjoy a range of formal and informal concerts throughout the year and, for our choirs, a busy programme of tours, broadcasts and recordings.  CCCS boys take the myriad benefits of a musical education with them throughout their lives.

Carbon Chronicles

My mission: reduce my carbon impact by 50%.

There isn’t much good news about the climate, but this is still the perfect time to be an optimist because optimism is a way of thinking about life. Optimists believe that things will turn out ok, that there’s always a way to get the job done and that we can improve our lot through effort.

Not only does a good walk raise the spirits by getting you out and about in the fresh air but a guided walk through the city invariably yields some fascinating facts about Oxford, even to its residents.

Also commemorating its 20th Anniversary this year, The National Memorial Arboretum was founded by Commander David Childs as ‘a place where people’s lives would be commemorated among living trees that would grow and mature in a ‘world at peace’’.

The festivities are nearly upon us. It’s a time for reunion, for sharing and for enjoying the simple pleasures of human existence. A time of reflection, connection, and celebration; reminding us all, of the joyous aspects of togetherness, ready for the year to come. Often though, this isn’t always the reality.
