Christ Church Cathedral School is a place of aspiration. Our school is rightly known for its friendliness and pastoral care but much of our pupils’ manifest happiness is predicated upon the fact that they see themselves succeeding in all walks of life, most especially academically.

The journey starts in Nursery, which is housed in the unrivalled surroundings of the 15th Century building in which Cardinal Wolsey, Henry VIII’s chief advisor, designed the greatest of Oxford Colleges, Christ Church. The Nursery has a charming garden facing the glorious Tudor frontage of the College. The rooms are of an intimate size which means that the pupils always feel calm and at home and our Montessori inspired programme ensures that early learning is enjoyable and that life skills are learned quickly. From there, boys move on to our Pre-Prep which is situated in light colourful classrooms where our warm and dynamic teachers ensure that learning is rigorous but engaging. We also have access to the most beautiful playing fields in England, Merton Field, and close by we have created an enchanting woodland classroom where birds and animals are being encouraged through nest boxes and homes.

The School was founded in 1546 to provide Choristers for Christ Church Cathedral, something we still do to this day. Christ Church Cathedral Choir, is internationally renowned and is one of the finest choirs in the world.  We are also very proud to provide Choristers for two additional Oxford colleges, Worcester and Pembroke. There is no other school in the country which hosts three College Choirs. We enjoy a range of formal and informal concerts throughout the year and, for our choirs, a busy programme of tours, broadcasts and recordings.  CCCS boys take the myriad benefits of a musical education with them throughout their lives.

In many areas of life, the top spots are taken by males. This often has nothing to do with talent. The situation is slowly improving but the world would be a better place if more of our global leaders were female. We need fewer testosterone-fuelled males with inflated egos and more level-headed women to help guide us towards the promised land. In our household it's the women who get things done.
