At LVS Oxford, we offer a specialized curriculum to boys and girls aged 11-19 with a diagnosis on the autism spectrum. Our core aims are to support and develop communication and interaction skills, nurture curiosity, and build lifelong learning identities so that students leave us as confident and independent young people, ready for a world of possibilities. Our specialized curriculum is underpinned by three main areas for development – Learning, Growing, and Achieving.

The school offers a range of GCSEs, BTECs, and OCR Cambridge Technical qualifications, along with a host of work experience opportunities, all of which allow students to go on to mainstream colleges or work placements. Students learn a variety of academic and vocational skills in a vibrant and stimulating environment.

Science is one of our core subjects at LVS Oxford, and our students have the opportunity to take entry-level and GCSE courses in all three sciences – Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. From environmental science projects that analyze local ecosystems to horticulture programs exploring plant anatomy, science is woven into every facet of our curriculum. Our students delve into the journey from soil to table, comprehending the intricate connections between agriculture and sustainability.

The Lower School curriculum at LVS Oxford is designed to spark curiosity and cultivate problem-solving skills. Through site-based projects, students delve into environmental science, exploring the impact of global warming and engaging with the natural world around them.

Our extensive grounds and rural setting serve as catalysts for experiential learning, offering students a tangible connection to their academic pursuits. For example, this year students have completed extensive projects focused on trees, birds, and insects to learn more about the impact of global warming on the local area by spending time in the forest adjacent to the school site.

After transitioning to the Upper School, students venture beyond campus to gain hands-on experiences. Off-site work placements and visits to educational settings expose them to real-world applications of science, fostering adaptability and resilience.
