The Polar Express Train Ride

Join us at THE POLAR EXPRESS™ at Cholsey and Wallingford Railway for a marvelous, magical Christmas spectacle.

Your magical journey will begin just like the blockbuster motion picture, with THE POLAR EXPRESS™ arriving at Cholsey and Wallingford Railway to begin your special adventure. You’ll meet all the beloved characters from the iconic film, including the Conductor, some very talented chefs, a man no-one seems to be able to see except you, and of course, Mr Claus himself.

The whole family (dressed in your pyjamas for the full Polar Express experience) will experience a theatrical extravaganza on board a steam train. As you carry on you will share the original THE POLAR EXPRESS™ tale read to you by our singing chefs. You’ll enjoy a tasty cookie and our famous hot chocolate until suddenly we stop, do you hear that? Sleigh bells! Santa will arrive in your carriage and, if you’re on his Nice List, you’ll receive a beautiful silver sleigh bell from Santa’s sleigh to treasure forever. Everyone in the family will have a chance to chat with Santa, get a photo and perhaps even get a copy of the book signed by him if you bought one with your Polar Express tickets.

Arriving home to Cholsey and Wallingford Railway, your journey isn’t quite over yet. In Santa’s workshop you can write him a letter, check who’s on the Nice list with the Naughty and Nice Scanner and visit the gift shop for treasures to remind you of your trip.

THE POLAR EXPRESS™ Train Ride at Cholsey and Wallingford Railway will be a truly magical Christmas journey.

An exciting series of events marks Windrush Day 2024 in Oxford from Friday 21 to Sunday 23 June. The theme of this year’s celebrations is ‘Women of the Windrush’. While traditionally focus has been given to the men who disembarked from the Windrush ship this year’s festival will put the female arrivals front and centre – their stories, and their voices.
