Set in stunning gardens, Watlington and District Nursing Home not only boasts a beautiful location, its long-serving team are devoted to enriching their residents’ lives each and every day.

The home is proud of its ‘Outstanding’ CQC rating - the highest possible rating from the care sector watchdog, which is testament to the amazing staff. At the helm is home manager Julie, who has been with the home for over 15 years.

Providing residential, dementia, nursing and palliative care, the team also provide pre-bookable respite care breaks. These are ideal for carers looking after loved ones who need to plan a short break themselves.

The activities organised by the team bring such joy to the residents, from animal visits and baking with the home’s chef, to trips out in the minibus and spending time in the magnificent gardens.

This summer the residents have loved taking part in their ‘Grow Your Own Way’ project, where they have grown and nurtured their own produce in the greenhouse, harvesting it to use in the kitchens.

And talking about food, the home’s chefs create nutritious, mouth-watering meals every day, with delicious home baking for afternoon tea.

A true sense of belonging for David and Rosie (with pic of Rosie and David)

Meet Rosie, who explains why she knows she made the best choice with Watlington for her husband David, who moved in over four years ago.

“The minute I walked into Watlington, I can’t tell you, it was like walking into a family home,” she explains. One day he blew me a kiss – then I realised he was doing it to all the staff! He loves them and they love him!

“I can drive away with a big smile on my face – he knows it’s his home and he’s happy there.”

A beautiful home inside and out

The surroundings at Watlington are very special. The gardens, which include a water feature and magnificent lawns, go all the way around the home, which overlooks the Chiltern Hills. The bedrooms and communal lounges and dining rooms have beautiful views of the gardens and surrounding countryside. And there are often Red Kites flying above.

There is a beautiful, light and airy orangery. And there are large lounges to relax in with family and friends, who are welcome to visit at any time. And if they can’t be there in person, they can see what their loved ones have been enjoying doing on the home’s private family and friends Facebook page.

There is a pamper room, for manicures, hand massages and appointments with the home’s mobile hairdresser. And coming very soon there will be regular appointments with the home’s mobile reflexologist, including aromatherapy massages.
