A real hidden gem, The Crown at Church Enstone in West Oxfordshire, is a beautiful, old Cotswold stone pub at the heart of a picture-perfect village.
Recently taken over by experienced hospitality operators, Matt and Katie Beamish, who also run acclaimed dining pub with rooms, The Kingham Plough and village dining hub with a renowned fish and seafood menu, The Hare at Milton-under-Wychwood and their outside catering service, The Potted Goose.
Prior to re-opening in November 2022, The Crown's ground floor bar and dining rooms, including a sun-filled garden room, underwent a complete refurbishment to offer relaxed, dining spaces finished in a warm, stylish palette to complement the pub's original exposed oak beams, rendered Cotswold stone walls and reclaimed timber floors. Locally sourced vintage and antique furnishings, original contemporary artworks and old photographs and prints add to the charming, country pub vibe.
The re-launch also saw the introduction of a highly skilled kitchen brigade and well-trained front of house team passionate about creating and serving stunning seasonal menus of fantastic modern British dishes at breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, whilst championing the very best fresh, local produce available. Expect innovative twists, re-imagined pub classics and daily changing specials alongside an all-day, seasonal Bar Snack Menu, a Sunday Roasts and Children’s Menu and for dogs; water bowls and biscuits. *Vegetarian, gluten-free and vegan options are always available.
Behind the bar with working inglenook fireplace, oak beams and flagstone floors, a carefully-curated wine list, weekly changing local and guest ales and artisanal soft drinks, and outside, a beautiful, walled cottage garden with mature plants and flowering climbers.
Upstairs, five bedrooms finished in a simple,, but luxurious style with Kingsize or twin beds covered with crisp white linen and cotton quilts alongside cosy armchairs. All rooms come with luxurious en-suite bathrooms featuring stand-alone tubs and powerful walk-in or above-bath showers tiled in bold, contemporary style.
