Bloxham School

Music, Drama, Sport, academic achievement; Bloxham...finding the spark in every child

We also excel in equestrian

The end of the Michaelmas Term is always an exceptionally busy, yet enjoyable, time in any school, and that was particularly the case at Bloxham School as we broke up for the Christmas holidays.

As well as entertaining the whole school community at our traditional Christmas carol services, Bloxham School’s Chapel Choir returned to St John's Church in London for their third appearance at the Icarus Trust charity Christmas concert. Music is an integral part of Bloxham School life and we are proud of our exciting performance programme. This Spring Bloxham music students go on tour to Belgium, culminating with a performance at the Menin Gate.

As a school we have marked the centenary of the First World War in others ways; not least, with our school play, 79, which remembered the 79 Old Bloxhamists who fought in the War. The play is testament to the increasing confidence and ambition of our Drama department under Sam Brassington’s leadership and our students enjoy a varied programme of live theatre to stretch and to inspire.

Away from creative arts, sport at Bloxham has also taken centre stage this term. With expert coaching, the girls’ hockey First XI won the County Cup for the second year running. Meanwhile, the boys’ rugby season has seen several success stories, with the First XV currently competing in the sixth round of the National competition (attracting rave reviews from the Telegraph, no less!). We also excel in equestrian, with a Bloxham team recently riding for victory in the NSEA National Championships.

Academic achievement sits high on our agenda and we were all proud of the two Bloxham AS Level students who went to London last month to collect their Arkwright Engineering Awards.

These highly sought-after engineering awards identify the boys amongst the country's future leaders in engineering and technical design.

Design Technology is just one of the subjects in which we offer scholarships, with other awards available in Music, Drama, Art and Sport, as well as for Academic talent. Bursaries are also available, bringing a Bloxham education within everyone’s reach.
