Pathfinder Tours organise around 40 rail excursions every year along both famous and less well known routes to a wide variety of interesting destinations.
Pathfinder pride themselves on the level of customer service they provide and have many loyal customers who travel with them over and over again.
Some of Pathfinder’s trains evoke bygone eras as they are made up of heritage carriages (with slam doors and opening windows) hauled by steam locomotives. Others are hauled by classic diesel engines arousing the interest of enthusiasts.
On Saturday 18 July Pathfinder’s ‘The Lakes & Border Explorer’ excursion will take you to Cumbria,
touching the shore of Morecombe Bay before arriving at Carlisle. You can explore this historic border town or try one of the off-train options on offer:
• Take a cruise on Lake Windermere with a ride on a steam hauled train to Haverthwaite*
• Visit Threlkeld Quarry and Mining Museum*
• For rail enthusiasts a visit to Direct Rail Services Kingmoor Depot Open Day*
*Supplementary fare payable
Then on Friday 28 August they have ‘The Torbay Flyer’, which will whisk you to the picturesque port of Dartmouth for the Royal Regatta. There is a lot going on in the town and you can see the free air display over the River Dart (subject to the weather, of course!) or you could take a trip on paddle steamer ‘Kingswear Castle’ (Book in advance & pay on the day).
Pathfinder Tours look forward to welcoming you aboard one of their many excursions in the near future.
