It’s six months since Graham Jones opened his new retail outlet to support his family flooring business. OX Homes popped along to catch up with Graham and find out how the last few months have fared.

“It's been really busy” Graham enthused. “We've been really fortunate to pick up lots of new work through recommendations and word of mouth, which is lovely. I suppose after over twenty years, some people could lose their enthusiasm for the job, but to see the joy on people's faces, once we've completed a project is still second to none.”

GJS cover all types of flooring work from sanding, supplying & laying laminate, solid wood and parquet floors to major repairs (inc. flood damage) and specialise in flooring restoration projects.

“I've just completed a really satisfying job on an old rickety parquet hallway floor. We cleaned and scraped the loose blocks and re-laid. After a full sand and lacquer – which took about three days – the floor really did look like new. It's this kind of restoration work that I love; the job satisfaction is immense. I suppose it's just the love for what I do. I have great attention to detail and will always go that extra mile to provide the best job I can and make sure that all customers are completely satisfied with my work.

More and more people seem to be opting for real wood floors nowadays, rather than covering them with carpets or other flooring types. It's definitely 'low sheen' floors that are currently really popular. Extra matt finish just gives that lovely natural appearance.

We can provide real wood or bespoke engineered floors and tailor the finish to exactly the customers' requirements. The tongue and groove flooring comes in a variety of widths, so we really can supply and fit any specification.

We cover all types of flooring work from sanding, supplying & laying laminate, solid wood, and parquet floors to major repairs (inc. flood damage) and specialise in flooring restoration projects.

I tend to visit the customer in their home to have a chat and fully understand exactly what the customer is looking for and to give a no-obligation quote. Should they wish, they can then visit the showroom at a weekend, to see examples of my work and the various wood finishes and styles we can offer.

I've now started to make occasional tables to match your floor. These can be made to any size and start from £325. No two tables are the same, so you can have something original and unique in your home. We can even make dining tables and benches to match. The legs are usually finished in a Farer and Ball paint colour of your choice, but we can also arrange bespoke fabrication should you wish.”
