The Microbiome Facial isn’t a reinvention of the wheel, but it is unique in that it brings together ground-breaking product with advanced tech to work across a spectrum of challenges in one session. All too often the onus is on the customer when booking a treatment to identify their most pressing concern and select accordingly but what I loved about the Microbiome Facial when I went to try it at Dr David Jack’s Belgravia clinic (very handily located near Victoria Station) was that I knew that after 60 minutes my face would be on its way to better overall health and condition. In fact, the therapist likened it to going to the gym – ‘you’ll definitely feel better after one session, but the key is maintenance. After five treatments, say one a month, you will feel and see the benefits of improved skin health’.
It starts with a thorough cleanse and exfoliation using Dr Jack’s own bespoke blended micro-peel to optimise cellular turnover and enhance penetration. Then the tech comes in with the use of Lumixa Fluorescent Light Energy (a form of light therapy) used in tandem with a specialised photoconverter gel to accelerate the efficacy of the red or blue light. All very relaxing and non-invasive.
The final phase uses Cold Plasma technology to get deep into the dermis and work its scientific magic to decrease bacteria and excess sebum, calm inflammation and accompanying redness, and stimulate that all-important collagen. After which the gel is cleaned off, serum and moisturiser are briskly applied. A layer of SPF later, and I’m back in the marbled reception area feeling very confident that future-me will look back on this day and be very, very grateful.
