Summer is creeping in, and we can’t wait to get stuck into some of our wonderful local festivals – as well as those that are well worth travelling for. Here, we’ve rounded up some of our favourites…

KITE Festival

10-12 June

KITE is a brand-new festival of ideas and music for curious, inquisitive, and cultural minds. Blending a unique line up of music and ideas against the backdrop of a classic British greenfield festival. KITE marks an innovative intervention aimed at collaboratively building a festival for the future.

Nocturne Live

15-19 June

Nocturne Live are delighted to announce that Simply Red and The Brand New Heavies will be playing the first of five nights of music at Blenheim Palace. They join David Gray, UB40 and Simple Minds to complete the line up for Nocturne Live 2022.

Fit Farm Festival

2 July

Fit Farm Festival, a unique family friendly festival that makes fitness fun and accessible, is returning to Oxfordshire for the second year in July. The 2022 festival includes over 40 classes and workshops including yoga, Pilates, CrossFit, bootcamp, street dance, tyre flipping, HIIT, deadlifting and barre. The event will also include a kids zone, creative workshops, specialist talks, local food and drink suppliers and massage.

Cornbury Festival

8-10 July

Loved by locals, Cornbury is one of the longest running festivals in the heart of Oxfordshire, attracting 20,000 people each year for the last 17 years, retaining the friendly community atmosphere of a village fete, that just happens to have some of the biggest international names in music performing on the main stage.

Fi.Fest '22 is just around the corner, and this year it's even bigger! The Main Stage provides a full day of high-quality entertainment, the KidsZone has been designed to keep little minds active and creative. The Big Feastival

Camp Bestival

28-31 July

Camp Bestival is a British music festival, the ‘little sister’ of Bestival, both organised by BBC Radio 1 DJ Rob Da Bank. It is held annually, in July, at Lulworth Castle in Dorset and is targeted at families with small children.

Y Not Festival

Starting life as a house party in 2005, Y Not spilt into a festival in some of the most stunning countryside around. Expect a line-up you won’t see anywhere else in the Peak District. Each year we see some of the biggest names in Indie alongside panoramic country views.

Boardmasters Festival returns to Watergate Bay and Fistral Beach from Wednesday 10 August to Sunday 14 August 2022. As always, all music and camping activities will be held at the Watergate Bay site, and all surfing, shopping and beach activities will be held at the Fistral Beach site – see you there.

It’s a strange thing to be confronted by a famous face whether in the flesh or over Zoom; you never know when you’ll be a little starstruck. Anton du Beke has spent most autumn weekends in my living room for the past eight years but despite that, I had no idea what to expect when we arranged to speak ahead of his ‘Audience With’ at the Wycombe Swan in May.

The idea for an open studios event was brought from the US four decades ago and the first Artweek in the UK was held in Oxford, simply as a small local event. Since then, millions of visitors have enjoyed the friendly welcome of local artists: now the festival encompasses the whole of Oxfordshire and it is a model which has been copied across the country.
