The Holiday Inn, Bristol – Filton

divider

I recently had the pleasure of staying at The Holiday Inn in Filton, Bristol on a busy Saturday, and from the moment I arrived, I knew I had made the right choice. After enduring a two-hour journey in heavy holiday traffic, navigating some of the busiest roads around the M4/M5 interchange, I was relieved to find that the hotel was both easy to locate and perfectly positioned just a short distance from the main motorway routes. This made arriving stress-free and convenient — a real bonus after a long day of travel.

One of the first things I noticed was the ample parking available. The hotel offers a large car park with plenty of spaces, which immediately set a positive tone for the rest of my visit. There’s nothing worse than circling around looking for somewhere to park when you’re tired, but thankfully that wasn’t the case here.

Upon entering the hotel, I was warmly welcomed by the professional and friendly reception staff. They greeted me with genuine smiles, and the check-in process was quick, smooth, and efficient. It was clear from the outset that customer service is a priority here, and the staff maintained that excellent standard throughout my stay.

Once I had checked in, I made my way to my room and was immediately impressed. The room was bright, spacious, and immaculately clean. The double bed was large and inviting, dressed in crisp white linens that gave it a fresh feel. The overall décor was stylish yet minimalistic, with clean white walls complemented by tasteful pops of colour in the lampshades, artwork, and soft furnishings. These little touches gave the space character without overwhelming the sense of calm.

The room came well-equipped with modern amenities, including a large flat-screen TV, tea and coffee making facilities, and even a mini fridge stocked with bottled water, which was a thoughtful addition. The bathroom was also spotlessly clean and pleasantly spacious, featuring both a bath and a shower. It was clear that housekeeping takes great pride in their work — everything felt fresh, tidy, and very well-maintained.

Location-wise, the hotel is superbly placed for exploring both central Bristol and the surrounding area. Whether you’re heading into the city, visiting local attractions, or planning a shopping trip to Cribbs Causeway, the hotel serves as an ideal base. I can see it working equally well for business travellers and holidaymakers alike.

During my stay, I made full use of the hotel’s facilities, including the indoor pool and health and fitness centre. The pool was clean, a comfortable temperature, and not overly crowded — great for unwinding. The fitness centre appeared well-equipped and modern, perfect for anyone wanting to keep up with their routine while away from home.

In the evening, I dined at the on-site restaurant, and despite it being quite busy (as expected on a weekend), the staff handled everything with efficiency and professionalism. The service was excellent — attentive without being overbearing — and I felt well looked after. I began my meal with the garlic mushrooms, which were perfectly cooked and full of flavour. For the main course, I chose the risotto, which I can honestly say was one of the best I’ve had at a hotel restaurant — well-balanced, and beautifully presented.

After dinner, I returned to my room and had a restful, undisturbed night’s sleep. The room was quiet, the bed incredibly comfortable, and the blackout curtains ensured I wasn’t disturbed by early morning light. I woke feeling refreshed and ready for the day ahead.

Breakfast the following morning was another highlight. The hotel offers a buffet-style breakfast with a wide range of choices to suit all preferences — from a full English breakfast to lighter continental options, cereals, fruit, pancakes, and more. The food was fresh, well-stocked, and the breakfast area was clean and efficiently managed.

To summarise, my experience at The Holiday Inn, Filton Bristol was thoroughly enjoyable. Every aspect of the stay — from the warm welcome to the attention to detail in the rooms, the high standard of cleanliness, the excellent food, and the convenient location — made it clear that this hotel is both well-managed and customer-focused.

Whether you’re visiting for business or leisure, I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for comfort, reliability, and genuine hospitality. I will certainly be staying here again the next time I’m in the area.
