Quainton-based heritage railway Buckinghamshire Railway Centre is excited to be offering free entry to their Museum Day on Sunday 20th September, as part of the Nationwide ‘Heritage Open Day’ Festival, which runs from 13-20th September 2026.
Visitors will be able to step back in time and wander the whole 25-acre site and admire the railway exhibits, including a fascinating carriage from Queen Victoria’s era, a loco from the 1800s and a carriage used by Churchill and Eisenhower to plan the D-Day Landings! There is also a large railway museum, travelling post office and other steam and diesel locomotives, carriages and coaches, and freight wagons to see and learn about. You will also be able to enjoy the miniature and model railways, also on site.
The visitor centre, which is the original railway station building from central Oxford, will be open and houses the Railway Café and gift shop. There is also a small play area and train tables for the children, who will gaze in wonder at the size of the huge steam locos around the site! A great day out for all the family!
