Prezzo, an Italian restaurant, has opened its doors in Oxfordshire, with a brand-new look and a whole new menu. Prezzo has rebranded, and selected restaurants across the UK are getting a major upgrade.
Diners can Now Order New Pasta Dishes
The general manager of the restaurant has said that they are very excited to be able to welcome diners to their establishments, and are running various specials throughout the year that allow people to get up to 50% off.
They are also hosting a number of specials which are running for a limited time only, including chicken strips in garlic, and truffle pizza with pancetta and mushrooms. The restaurant is also offering half-price meals if you download a voucher from the official Prezzo Italian website and bring it to your meal with you.
With the new restaurant opening, locals have been flocking to the location to sample the latest dishes.
Interestingly, Pasta Evangelists has also opened up a restaurant in Oxfordshire. The owners have an ambitious plan to open 100 new restaurants across the UK over the next five years, and are making strides to ensure that steps are taken to expand their empire.
It makes perfect sense too, especially when you consider how much of a focus there is on Italian food in the media right now, and how Italian cuisine now accounts for 19%of worldwide restaurants. Social media has a big part to play here, with the “Swicy” movement taking hold.
This involves sweet and spicy flavour profiles that are dominating UK food culture, with hot honey in particular being incredibly popular. Calabrian chilli and blood orange on cured meat is also becoming a trend, showing how our love for Italian food was always there, but now it’s really coming into the forefront.
Modern Media is Driving Italian Cuisine
Numerous television shows are driving interest in Italian cuisine right now. Netflix’s Nonnas is a major hit which starsVince Vaughn, follows a restaurant owner who hires grandmothers from Italy, over professional chefs, to bring back the allure and prestige of handmade pasta.
Chef’s Table: Noodles is a docuseries that dives into the art of making noodles, as well as pasta, with Evan Funke, a master chef leading the helm.
You also have the podcast, Pasta Grannies, which features Vicky Bennison as she travels Italy, interviewing real nonnas to find out about their traditional family recipes.
There are also Slingo games that feature pasta, with a notable example being Slingo Slinguini. This game features the iconic linguini pasta, which originated in the Liguria region of Italy, and has since become a worldwide delicacy. The pasta can be paired with numerous ingredients, some of which are featured in the title, showing how Italian food is all around us.
Examples like this show how much of a spotlight there is on Italian cuisine, and how it makes perfect sense for restaurant owners to adopt more ambitious approaches when opening new restaurants, because the demand is certainly there. With Prezzo and Pasta Evangelists both opening new establishments, the local economy is certainly getting a major boost right now.
