The Kingham Plough Launches takeaway menu and local produce box collection and delivery service for duration of coronavirus emergency.

We reviewed the Kingham Plough last autumn and absolutely fell in love with the place. We’ve just heard from the team that they’re launching a delivery service (read below) – anyone in the surrounding area miffed you can’t go to the pub, well now the pub can come to you! This is a fantastic way to show support not just for the local hospitality industry but for the local suppliers further up the chain.

The Kingham Plough will remain open for the foreseeable future and is already diversifying to keep it and its local suppliers afloat during the Coronavirus crisis by offering a zero-contact collect and delivery service on its most popular pub classics menu – with a 50% discount on menu prices – along with beers and bottles of wine. They have also launched a weekly Grocery Produce Box costing £20 containing produce from its local suppliers and which can also be collected from the Kingham Plough or delivered to homes in surrounding villages.

Kingham Plough proprietor, Matt Beamish says, “We are now offering people the opportunity to go to our website and order takeaway dishes from our current menu. We will then box it up and put it straight in the boots of their cars so there will be zero contact. We are also offering a weekly collection or doorstep delivery Grocery Box Scheme containing a range of delicious fresh and store cupboard produce direct from our local suppliers. These can be collected from the pub daily or we will deliver free of charge within a 5 mile radius on Mondays & Fridays.”

Customers can order through the Kingham Plough’s website or by phoning 01608 658 327 to place an order for takeaway menu dishes, grocery boxes, beer and bottles of wine from its carefully chosen wine list and advise customers on wine and meal matching.

The Kingham Plough was recently awarded a prestigious Good Food Award for Gastro Pubs 2020 and was also recognised by the Good Food Awards in the Gastro Pub category in 2019.

Earlier this year, Little Clarendon Street was named one of the coolest places in the UK. The glowing report cited shops like Wild Honey and The Jericho Cheese Company, as well as community hub, Common Ground, and the now departed Wilding restaurant. Happily this prime venue has not stayed vacant for long. Kibou, the Japanese Kitchen and Bar, has opened its latest outpost in Jericho, and I went along to try out their contemporary and very stylish take on Japanese classics and street food.
